Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"They didn’t know it was my first time in and I felt like they really rolled out the red carpet for me by making sure sauces were fresh and recommendations were spot on. Super fair price for the quality. Got catfish and corn nuggets (super good) for lunch and getting brisket for dinner. Awesome local spot- a must visit if within a 45 minute drive. Best BBQ around. Would’ve paid twice as much for food and service this good- love it."
"recommend it if you are an out of state jobcorps student and if you are looking a good mom and pop restaurant price is great out of what you are going to get"
"It's a great little barbecue spot. The sauce is great. The mushrooms are just ridiculous. We enjoyed everything we got. The meats are cooked very well, especially the ham and turkey. The onion straws are so good too. Live music. Was just a great experience. We will be back!"
"To start, this place started as an old train station so if you're looking for a clean & polished restaurant, this isnt your cup of tea. However, if you are looking for some phenomenal, down home BBQ and great service, don't hesitate. The ribs were smoked to perfection! Our food was served up fast and warm. We were stuffed and had lots left to take home for later. You won't be disappointed!"
"Great BBQ and friendly service. The restaurant sits in original Wabash Railroad depot just outside downtown Excelsior Springs."
"Great, as always! The BBQ is smoked to perfection! The appetizer, which we highly recommend, onion strings, are outstanding! You don't get as many as you used to, but they're still worth ordering! I ALWAYS recommend the BBQ Burnt Ends as a hometown favorite! The BBQ Beans are inadequate and not worth the time.... pass on them and get something else! They taste like canned pork and beans, and you only get a small condiment cup of them! The facility is an old train station with lots of nostalgia to look at! Bring a jacket if you're cold natured. With the concrete floors, the temperatures fluctuate easily! Enjoy!"
"First time here and will definitely be back. Great tasting bbq and sides. We had the burnt ends, brisket, turkey and pulled pork. All tastes great. Their sauce is great also. Service was friendly and prices were decent. Can’t wait to go back when in the area."
"This place is the best kept secret in the KC area! Great BBQ and prices without the over hyped atmosphere. This is your basic BBQ joint with high quality tasting food and service. The dinning area is divided into two sections, dinning in the area and dinning in not the bar area. Naturally, one side is a little more kid friendly than the other. The service was excellent and the staff was super friendly and even spoke German! That definitely was a great experience and opportunity. This place should definitely be on your go to map for great BBQ in the KC area."
